Abstract

The linear stability of drift tearing mode with neoclassical effect is investigated in the cylindrical geometry. It is found that there is an instability even in the limit of Δ' <0, if the bootstrap current term exists. The eigen-function shows the tearing-like mode. The transition between two eigen-states is observed. This instability is stabilized by the drift effect and by collisional viscosities. The nonlinear sustainment of neoclassical tearing mode is also investigated in the linearly stable region. We do not find the nonlinear sustainment in our parameters, but the magnetic island simply dumps.
