Abstract

A new method (MEMEP) developed by modifying the Extended Maximum Entropy Principle Method (EMEP) is proposed as a general and practical method for estimating directional spectrum in incident and reflected wave fields. The proposed method is examined for numerical simulation data. The results show that the proposed method has higher resolution than the MMLM (Modified Maximum Likelihood Method), and can estimate not only the incident and reflected wave spectra but also the reflection coefficient as a function of wave frequency and wave propagation direction.
