title = "Microscopic observation of iron carburization by coal under the presence of liquid slag",
abstract = "Microscopic high temperature phenomena were studied with two kinds of experiments using confocal laser-scanning microscope. The composite, made up of coal and metallic iron powders, was rapidly heated and the melt-down temperature and the liquid formation were observed with the aid of the image analysis. Microscopic {"}in situ{"} observation for the carburization of iron by graphite through liquid slag phase was also conducted with the model assembly of graphite/liquid slag/solid iron reaction couple. The resultant data were analyzed in detail.",
