Trains and boats and planes: The thermolysis of a tri ruthenium complex having H3-pentylidyne and μ3-pentyne ligands on each face of the tri metallic plane exclusively afforded the μ3- ethylidyne-nroctyne complex. In this reaction, a C3 fragment migrated from one face of the Ru3 planeto the other. This corresponds to the selective redistribution of two C5 molecules into C2 and C8 molecules. (Figure Presented)
