Abstract

Measurements of PvT properties, vapor pressures, saturated densities, and critical parameters were carried out for trans-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene (R1336mzz(E); CF3CH=CHCF3). Thirty-nine PvT property data in the single phase region along seven isochores for R1336mzz(E) were obtained in the temperatures between 333 and 410 K, pressures up to 5681 kPa, and densities between 52 and 1216 kg·m−3 by the isochoric method. Twenty-six vapor pressure data for R1336mzz(E) were obtained in the temperatures between 287 K and the critical temperature and at pressures up to the critical pressure. Twenty-one saturated density data for R1336mzz(E) were obtained by the observation of meniscus disappearance near the critical point and by the break point of isochores between 52 and 1216 kg·m−3 and the vapor-pressure curve. On the basis of these measurements, the critical parameters for R1336mzz(E) were determined as Tc = 403.53 ± 0.01 K, ρc = 513 ± 3 kg·m−3, and Pc = 2779.2 ± 2.0 kPa. The vapor− pressure correlation is also discussed.
