Abstract

The apparatus for measurement of melting points of actinide oxides is being developed as the containerless method. It consists mainly of Nd:YAG laser, high-speed pyrometers and stainless cell with glass window. In this method, the melting point is defined as the thermal arrest observed during solidification of a part of sample. Although the accuracy of melting point was relatively low so far, the verification of measurement system was made for Ni, Mo and CeO 2-Nb2O5 samples.
