Abstract

The magnetic properties of Ce2Fe17-xAlx (8 ≤ x ≤ 13) have been studied by susceptibility, magnetization and heat capacity. Susceptibility and heat capacity studies indicate that two magnetic ordered phases are newly found besides spin-glass phase. The Weiss temperature turns from positive to negative for x ≥ 12. The origin of new phases may be accounted for by preferential site occupation of Al atoms and the competition among exchange interactions.
