Abstract

Mechanically ground YFe2 was studied by means of X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer effects. It is shown that YFe2 decomposes into amorphous Y-Fe and bcc Fe on mechanical grinding. Milling time dependence of the fraction of Fe atoms in each state is determined by Mössbauer analyses.
