Long time evolution of standing gravity waves in deep water

A numerical study of the long time evolution of standing gravity waves with a breaking model is presented. We propose two simple and heuristic breaking models. The models simulate numerically the frequency downshift phenomenon which Lake et al. (1977) have reported experimentally. Our results show a new recurrence after the frequency downshift. A new method to obtain a standing wave profile is also proposed.
