Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate the shape of glaucomatous optic disc over 10 years. Cases and Method: This retrospective study involved 17 glaucomatous eyes of 9 patients comprising 7 males and 2 females. They were aged from 14 to 55 years, average 31 years, at the start of the study. Developmental glaucoma was present in 11 eyes and open-angle glaucoma in 6 eyes. Intraocular pressure remained below 21 mmHg in all the eyes. Visual field and optic disc were assessed by Goldmann perimeter and Heidelberg Retina Tomograph (HRT). The visual field progressed in 8 eyes and remained stationary in 9 eyes over 10 years. Findings: Each HRT parameter for the optic disc showed glaucomatous progression in both groups over the 10 year period. Regression analysis of rim volume and cup shape measure showed more marked progression in 8 eyes with visual field progression. Conclusion: Rim volume and cup shape measure in HRT are useful parameters for glaucomatous visual field progression.
