Abstract
Laminar forced convection condensation of a ternary vapor mixture on a flat plate is theoretically treated based on the two-phase boundary layer concept, and a new algebraic method is proposed. The condensation characteristics for air-methanol-water mixture at constant total pressure and constant bulk temperature are presented as an example of the numerical results, that is, mass fluxes of methanol and water, heat flux and thermodynamic states at the vapor-liquid interface are graphically shown as function of bulk mass fraction, where the temperature difference between the cooled plate and the bulk mixture is used as a parameter.
