Abstract

The cross-correlation analyses between ECMWF atmospheric pressure data and wave data obtained at 18 Japanese NOWPHAS observation stations for 5 years, i.e., from 1994 to 1998, were carried out. The most critical route of the weather disturbance that affects the wave condition at each wave observation station was discussed based on the results of the seasonal and yearly statistical analyses. As a result, some relationships between wave conditions (significant wave height and long period waves) and the weather conditions were clarified at the wave observation stations on the Japan Sea side and the Pacific Ocean side.
