Abstract
Here the authors report interim results of the Japanese Extracranial (EC)-intracranial (IC) bypass Trial (JET) - 2 Study. The purpose of this study is to examine the incidence of stroke recurrence, disability and death under medical treatment in cases with stage 1 ischemia due to symptomatic occlusive lesions of the anterior circulation. The patients with stage 1 ischemia were categorized based on rest cerebral blood flow (rCBF) and cerebrovascular reserve (CVR) quantified by single photon emission tomography (SPECT) into 4 subgroups as follows : Group A : rCBF : 80 to 90%, CVR : <10%, GroupB : rCBF<80%, CVR : 10 to 20%, Group C : rCBF : 80-90%, CVR : 10-20%, Group D : rCBF<90%, CVR : 20-30%. A total of 132 cases with symptomatic occlusive lesions of the anterior circulation were enrolled. The current status of case registration and the incidence of stroke recurrence, disability and death in the subgroups were analyzed.
