N2 - We emphasize that interactive evolutionary computation (IEC) can be used not only to optimize a target system based on an IEC user’s subjective evaluations but also to analyze the characteristics of the IEC user. We introduce four research works as concrete examples of this new research direction: measuring a perceived range for emotional expressions, finding unknown auditory knowledge through hearing-aid fitting and cochlear implant fitting, and modeling of human awareness mechanism.
