Integration of VR Tours Using 360VR Images/Videos and Point Cloud Data

Abstract

This paper proposes integrated VR tours of 360-degree VR images/videos and PCD: Point Cloud Data. The authors have already proposed several frameworks for making it easy to create web-based VR tours of 360-degree VR images/videos and PCD, and developed VR tours of several rooms of the authors’ university using such frameworks and scanned data. In this paper, the authors focus on the integration of VR tours of 360-degree VR images/videos and PCD. These VR tours are implemented using the frameworks based on WebGL, WebXR and Three.js. This time, the authors newly developed a framework for the integration of these VR tours using iframe tags of HTML5.0. Any two VR tours of 360-degree VR images/videos and PCD can be integrated by two iframe tags. In this paper, the authors also propose the use of potree: WebGL point cloud viewer for large datasets as a web viewer of PCD. So, the authors show the integration examples of VR tours of 360-degree VR images/videos and PCD including potree implemented using the integration framework.
