Abstract

The purpose of this study is to clarify whether people correctly evaluate the change in the number of cars that pass into the lane in front of the driver and the travel time caused when the time gap is lengthened. The authors will hereby refer to cars passing into the lane in front of the driver as "interrupting cars". The number of interrupting cars when one's destination was examined. As a result of investigation and experiment, the misconception that the number of interrupting cars and the travel time increase with lengthening time gap was clarified.
