Abstract

Thirty‐nine patients with rheumatoid arthritis were HLA typed for the full range of A and B locus specificities and for Cw3 and Dw4. HLA‐Dw4 was significantly more frequent in patients (36%) than in controls (13%). The frequency of Cw3 was also increased, probably because this allele is in linkage disequilibrium with Dw4.
