Abstract

A total of 110 extracts from 83 Indonesian traditional plant medicines and from 11 samples from Peru were subjected to the screening of angiotensin 1-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors by the in vitro ACE inhibitory assay at a fixed concentration, and the IC50 values for the selected 17 extracts were determined. The 100% ethanol extract from Majakani (Quercus lusitanica) showed the highest inhibitory activity and its IC50 was 5.7 μg/ml.
