Abstract

This study aims:(1) to identify the structural changes in agriculture of Inner Mongolia by comparing data from 2000 and 2007, (2) to measure the impacts of agricultural production factors on agricultural income, and (3) to discuss possible future issues based on the analysis results. A principal component (PC) analysis was conducted to use four dimensions with forty-four (44) variables regarding land, labor, capital and productivity of agriculture and livestock. Using the resultant score of the PC analysis, a pass analysis was conducted to identify the influences on agricultural income. The results show not only a significant income increase for farmers but also a wide income gap during the period from 2000 to 2007. Second, the structure of productivity of crop cultivation becomes increasingly complex during this period. Third, the structure of agricultural production also becomes increasingly complex during the period.
