Abstract

Hydrogen capacity in a volume basis of metal hydride is suitable for onboard hydrogen storage for fuel cell vehicles but hydrogen capacity in a weight basis needs improvement. General information is introduced on metal hydrides, advantages of their onboard application, development of materials, and future prospects. In addition to conventional metal hydrides, alanates are briefly introduced.
