N2 - High-strength, high-toughness cast steels were investigated for application to building super mega-frames. The developed cast steel had a tensile strength over 650N/mm2 and a Charpy energy absorption of more than 100J at 0°C. The new cast steel was put through trial production verification tests for application to the super-mega frames of buildings. The test results met customer requirements, and the new cast steel was applied to an actual super mega-frame. In the future, this cast steel is expected to prove useful for bridge components and other structural parts.
