Abstract
Metal particulate and Ba ferrite particulate media, composed of very fine particles, were studied in their high-density recording performances. Using a modified loss-term simulation program, the recording capability of each media, the effects of spacing, particle size and size deviation were analyzed. Based on the analysis and thermal stability measurement, desirable particle sizes for use in recording of several hundreds kFRPI were proposed.
