Abstract
A Lotka-Volterra type equation with nonlinear interactions is studied. Prey-predator relations are generated as a result of the dynamic instability of the homogeneous state and the hierarchical structure is self-organized. Similar layered structures appear also in the neural network model in which the synaptic connections are modified nonlinearly.
