Abstract

The relation of the size and luminescence of self-organized ZnSe quantum dots (QDs) was studied. At the growth temperature of 350 °C, the average dot size is 2.0 nm high and 11 nm wide and the density is 1×1010 cm-2. The zinc-blende structure of this dot is clear. The measured photoluminescence peaks from these samples show a blueshift and are in good agreement with the calculated quantum size effect estimated by atomic force microscopy.
