Abstract

Structure of Poly(vinyl alcohol)/Poly(sodium alginate) mixed gels are examined by small angle neutron scattering and their mechanical properties are examined by simple elongation. It was observed that the gels are uniform when the Poly(sodium alginate) content is low (<10wt%) and their moduli linearly depends on amounts of absorbed Ca 2+ ions when it is not too high.
