N2 - The dominant solution-phase conformation of a polymer can be fixed to a surface (see scheme). Boronic acid appended poly(L-lysine) assumes different conformations in the presence of D-glucose or D-fructose. When the polymer-glucose complex is anchored to a gold surface, an imprinted interface with "molecular memory" for glucose over fructose can be prepared.
