Abstract
A series of expermiments involving injecting a 30 to 50% NaOH solution into the PGM-07 well at Miravalles, Costa Rica were performed in late 2003. These tests increased the pH of the produced fluid from its normal 2.3 to 4.5, 5.0 and 6.0. The results showed the optimum operating pH to be between 5.0 and 5.5. In this range both the corrosion rates and the scale deposition rates are minimized.
