Abstract

The Mach-Zehnder interference (MZI) modulator is the most common type of the EO waveguide modulator, while its operation has intrinsic problem. The operating point of the MZI modulator is controlled by applying bias voltage for keeping the linear transfer function between electric signal and output light intensity. In this paper, we design the multimode interference (MMI)-MZI EO polymer waveguide to demonstrate the no-bias modulator operation.
