Abstract
Packed bed reactor equipped with shell and tube heat exchanger was studied. Carbon fiber of high thermal conductivity was attached to a heat transfer tube to improve heat transfer rate around the tube by extension of heat transfer area. To disperse the carbon fibers in the reactor effectively, spiral type configuration was used. A silver paste adhesive rather than aluminum tape is suitable to fix carbon fibers and to transfer thermal energy effectively. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 8th World Congress of Chemical Engineering (Montreal, Quebec, Canada 8/23-27/2009).
