    Abstract

In this study, the adiabatic pressure drop and flow boiling heat transfer characteristics of R1234ze(E), R134a and R32 in horizontal multi-port mini-channels are experimentally investigated. Experiments were carried out with aluminum rectangular-channel tubes of 0.43 mm and 1.31 mm in average hydraulic diameters, as well as with a circular-channel tube of 0.52 mm in the hydraulic diameter, at a saturation temperature of 288 K in mass velocity range from 100 to 400 kg m-2s-1 and heat flux range from 5 to 20 kW m-2. The existing correlations and experimentally determined heat transfer coefficient satisfactorily agreed for the rectangular channel of 1.31 mm and the circular channel of 0.52mm, however deviates for the rectangular tube of 0.43 mm. This comparison result indicates the significant effect of heat transfer contribution by the thin-liquid-film evaporation.
