Abstract

A new type of mixed steel-concrete construction has attracted special interest recently, because of its rational combination of economic advantage and structural characteristics. A rational method for connection of steel and concrete structures is needed to develop practical application. The primary objective of this study is to obtain general information with regard to the optimum method for connection of such structures. In this paper, three mechanical joints were investigated and a series of tests were carried out on mixed steel-concrete beams having the proposed joints.
