Abstract
Experimental and computational studies on supersonic mixing by slotted injection were conducted. In the experiments flat plate model was installed into supersonic free stream of Mach number 3.76 and sonic jet was injected through the slot at injection angle of 30, 90, 150 degree. Surface pressure distributions and spatial pitot pressure distributions were measured. Computation was conducted for the flowfield and the results were compared with experiments. Quite good agreements were obtained. The results showed that the computation is quite reliable to analyze the supersonic mixing flow field. Mixing rate and total pressure loss were assessed for 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 degree case by computation and it was indicated that the mixing efficiency become higher at injection angle lower than 30 degree when computation was conducted for single grid but this phenomenon was not seen when calculation was conducted including nozzle effect.
