Abstract

To estimate the damage caused by water pollution to rice production in the Mekong Delta, we interviewed rice farmers in a polluted area and a non-polluted area. Difference in rice profits between these two areas revealed that the profit loss of rice production in the polluted area was about VND 3.2 million per hectare, which represented approximately 26% of the total profit of rice cultivation.
