Abstract

The formulation of the fault diagnosis problem in terms of the consistent rooted tree is given the mathematical basis by proving its equivalence with the formulation in terms of the CE graph which has been strictly defined by use of the graph theory. This makes it possible to estimate the accuracy of the diagnostic results or to obtain the optimal sensor allocation when the automated fault diagnosis system is based on the formulation in terms of the consistent rooted tree.
