Abstract
Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is a rare complication in patients with nonhematologic malignancies. The authors describe the occurrence of ITP in a woman with uterine endometrial cancer that resolved upon resection of the tumor. Because the patient had not previously been treated with chemotherapy or irradiation, bone marrow suppression due to treatment was ruled out as a possible cause of the low platelet count.
