Abstract
The measurement of the photodissociation action spectrum in the photon energy range was used to obtain the optical spectrum of the manganese dimer ion. The density functional theory and the nonlocal corrections were used to analyze the electronic and geometric structures of the spectrum. The observed optical spectrum is consistent with the ferromagnetic spin coupling in the manganese ion where all of the 3d electrons are in the spin up state leading to an extremely large spin magnetic moment.
