Abstract

The low temperature specific heat of Lu (Co1−xAlx)2 is measured between 1.4 and 6.5 K. The electronic specific heat coefficient, γ, is enhanced around the critical concentration for the onset of ferromagnetism, while it is sharply reduced in a ferromagnetic region with a substantial moment. The results are discussed in relation with the magnetism in this system.
