N2 - Macromolecular crowding modulates the conformational preference of a small molecular rotor, which is used as a molecular viscometer. The shift towards the planar conformation of the porphyrin rotor was observed in the presence of increasing concentrations and sizes of polyethylene glycols. This observation highlights the differences between the behaviour of this molecular viscometer in the crowding and non-crowding types of media.
