Abstract

The effect of frequency on the cyclic creep behavior of SiCw/6061Al composite was studied. It was found that the composite showed cyclic creep acceleration (CCA) in the tested stress region at 196°C, while it showed cyclic creep retardation (CCR) at 350°C. Within the frequency range from 0 to 0.5 Hz, the cyclic creep stress exponent increased and the activation energy decreased at 196°C with increasing frequency, while both of them increased at 350°C. When the frequency increased to 1 Hz, the cyclic creep behavior of the composite did not follow the above trends at the two temperatures.
