N2 - Surface instability of vertically vibrated suspension of various dispersed powder and silicone oil is investigated in quasi 2-D and 1-D system. As the acceleration of vibration exceeds a critical value, flat surface became unstable against a finite amplitude perturbation. We observe instabilities as an expanding hole, segregation between empty and filled space and a viscous finger-like pattern. Noticeable feature of these instabilities is that the only frequency of the vibration and packing fraction strongly affect the onset acceleration. In addition, we find that former two instabilities have convection like flow at their rim and the stability of an expanding hole or segregated condition depends on that of convection like flow.
