Abstract

Students in a dental course have to pay a large amount of money for their training to become a dentist because they have to use expensive dentures in the dental treatment training that are discarded after the training. If we can provide virtual objects realized by 3D CG instead of the physical dentures, dental students can reduce their training costs drastically because such virtual objects can be used repeatedly and there are not any physical loss. Then, this paper treats dental treatment training systems. The authors propose a prototype system using WebAR technology and Leap Motion Controller device, and show results of a simple experiment for evaluating the prototype system in this paper.
