Abstract
The application of liquid surfactant membrane (LSM) to metal recovery is an attractive approach to separation processes. The purpose of this work is to develop new surfactants because they act as the carrier of water and/or solutes in the internal and feed solutions. In this study, derivatives of glutamic acid di-alkyl ester and di-alkyl type quaternary ammonium salts were prepared. Copper extraction was carried out in a stirred tank. W/O emulsion made of the surfactant was de-emulsified by a continuous electrical coalescer.
