    Abstract

The hemiacetal moiety is an acid-responsive functional group. In this study, we first describe the design and synthesis of a polymer that carries a hemiacetal as an acid-responsive moiety as well as pyrene moiety that has a strong affinity to carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The synthesized polymer was able to solubilize CNTs in organic solvents, and the obtained dispersions produced CNT-based aggregates by adding acid. The present method is useful to design stimuli-responsive CNTs.
