Abstract
We synthesized three kinds of α,α-disubstituted vinyl polymers having ester or amide groups (polymer 1, 2, 3), and studied the thermosensitive properties of their aqueous solutions. All of the polymers show phase transition, and 2 and 3 show an unusual thermal hysteresis. It is probably caused by strong hydrogen bonding among the amide groups of polymers. Addition of inorganic salts and urea does not affect this hysteresis. Adhesion of cells to the phase-separated polymer films was investigated.
