Abstract
A new structure of transmission line with electromagnetic bandgap surface to reduce radiation loss is introduced. The structure employs two adjacent rows of copper-based vias connecting top and bottom metal. These vias are periodically spaced to produce high impedance surface to guide propagating waves. An equal-amplitude power dividers were designed using proposed structure, mictrostrip and coplanar waveguide (CPW) topologies. The comparison suggests that proposed structure has a low radiation loss compared to the other topologies under the same fabrication process and testing condition.
