Abstract

A wiring task such as laying LAN cable inside ceiling is a dangerous and inefficient work. To improve the safety and efficiency of the work, authors have proposed a remote controlled mobile robot with flexible spoke wheels for the wiring task. The workspace inside the ceiling has obstacles such as metal fixtures, hanging bolts and electronic appliances. Thus, the traverse ability of the mobile robot for the obstacles is very important. The traverse ability of the robot depends on the number of the spokes and flexibility of the material for the spoke wheel. The paper discusses the traverse ability for a design of the flexible spoke wheel of the remote controlled wiring mobile robot.
