Abstract

We propose optical-to-THz-wave conversion method using the cross-gain modulation and photomixing. In this method, signals on one wavelength are converted to those on two wavelengths which result in signals on THz wave after photomixing. We experimentally demonstrate the feasibility of seamless media conversion from a lightwave for optical communication into a 300-GHz carrier for wireless.
