Abstract

Single crystals of Sr2NI have been grown for the first time. Redetermination from single-crystal X-ray diffraction data confirms the anti - NaFeO2 structure, previously found from powder diffraction data [Bowman, Smith & Gregory (2006). J. Solid State Chem. 179, 130-139]. Iodide ions occupy octa-hedral voids between layers of edge-sharing NSr6 octa-hedra.
