Abstract

Experiments were conducted to determine the creep behavior of a commercial Al-5% Mg-0. 25% Fe (5083) alloy. The results are described and analyzed in terms of the significance of a threshold stress. Steady-state creep rate was found to be an exponential function of the applied and threshold stresses. It was also found that the relative magnitudes of the grain size and the particle interspacing are important in determining the creep strength. Refs.
