Abstract

Crack Projection Method is proposed for the crack opening measurement of rocks, using the 3-dimensional data of the linear absorption coefficient given by the X-rays Computerized Tomography. As an application, the crack propagation in the Short Rod test specimen is analyzed, and the fracture process zone is successfully evaluated from the comparison of the permanent crack opening to the elastic crack opening.
